Vocational Education & Training

VET courses are highly valued by students, parents and employers. They provide authentic, applied learning that is practical and work-based and helps students prepare for their transition to post-school work and further study. Students choose VET courses for a wide range of reasons.

Some may want to maximise their ATAR for university entrance; some may wish to gain a head start with their trade training while at school; and others wish to develop skills that are relevant to their personal interests.

The College offers the following courses to Stage 6 students:

VET Business Services

The VET Business Services qualification is a nationally recognised entry-level qualification for employment in the Business Services industry. This course would suit students who are interested in a career in the office or business environment and in other personal contact & service occupations such as legal or medical secretary, business management, marketing, advertising and finance. The knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired by students in this course will also be of value in future study and daily life.

VET Entertainment

The VET Entertainment qualification is a nationally recognised  entry-level qualification for employment in the Entertainment industry. The course would suit students who are interested in a career in the Entertainment Industry, working in possible jobs such as stagehand, technical assistant in lighting and sound. Students may also wish to complete this course for general interest and to assist in part-time work while undertaking further study.

VET Hospitality

The VET Hospitality qualification is a nationally recognised entry-level qualification for employment in the Hospitality industry. The course would suit students who are interested in a career in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, working in hotels, motels, restaurants, clubs, catering organisations, resorts, travel and tourism organisations. Students may also wish to complete this course for general interest and to assist in part-time work while undertaking further study.

Access to Sydney Catholic Schools Trade Training/Skills Centres

Students in Years 11 and 12 have access to externally-delivered VET (EVET) courses are not delivered onsite at the College.

Students regularly access VET courses at the Southern Cross (SCCVC) College at Burwood. Courses include:

  • Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Human Services (health Service Assistance)
  • Information and Digital Technology.
