Curriculum Area Overview

At Marist Sisters’ College the Curriculum is designed to meet mandatory legislative requirements as well as provide for the diverse range of learners. An underpinning philosophy of Curriculum provision at MSCW is that girls learn best when their subjects meet their abilities, interests and aptitudes. The wide range of electives offered at the College means that girls are given the opportunity to excel in their chosen areas. Many subjects, particularly from Years 7 though 10 are mandatory and these subjects are delivered in a manner that caters to the different learning styles.
The classroom at MSCW is a dynamic, exciting and innovative learning environment. Many classrooms have Smartboards, data projectors, PC’s and other learning technologies that motivate girls and stimulate learning. Girls are able to use these and other technologies in research, preparation and presentation of work. Many girls have Macbooks and are able to prepare work and present it as a Podcast.
At MSCW student engagement is considered a priority and teachers endeavour to provide this in the delivery of our curriculum.
The subjects both mandatory and elective provide at MSCW are:

Permissible use of the Internet
The Internet offers enhanced communication and access to information for research. As a result of the Internet’s immediacy, reach and the flexibility of access, there is a need for a MSCW Technology Policy to guide the activities of students when using the Internet, the college Intranet, SchoolsNet and all other technology based resources. The following User Policy overview has been designed to make our students aware of the ethical issues related to the use of the internet and technology resources.
